Traceability: From Sea to Plate

Traceability allows us to know the origin of the products we consume, providing detailed information about their journey from the point of capture or production to the moment they reach our hands.

Why does it matter so much?

This process guarantees transparency and quality, enabling us to make responsible and informed purchasing decisions. By knowing the origin and the conditions under which each product was obtained, we can choose options that meet the highest standards of safety, sustainability and environmental respect.

Of the 13 species of tuna that exist, three are commonly found in canned products: skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) and bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus). These are highly migratory species found in tropical waters in the three oceans: Atlantic (most common FAO zones: 31, 34, 41 and 47); Indian (most common FAO zones: 51 and 57); Pacific (most common FAO zones: 71, 77, 81 and 87). Use the code on the tin to find out the origin of the tuna it contains. You can find this information on round tins manufactured from September 2017 onwards.
